With Messenger, you can express yourself by adding pictures or short videos of yourself that can change with your mood, let people know what music you’re listening to, and customize the scene in the conversation window.

Messenger lets you add the people that you chat with most to your list of favorites at the top of your contact list. As soon as they're ready to chat, you'll see their profile pictures light up.

By dragging photos right into the conversation window, you can show them off while you’re chatting. You can also let contacts save your photos on their computers.

Automatically see what your contacts have been up to lately with the "what’s new" area. It gives you a glimpse of any new blogs or photos they’ve posted, new contacts they’ve added, and more.

If you're chatting with someone who has to leave their computer, you can still use Messenger to send an SMS text message to their mobile phone.
